On a shared road trip through the US, August and his co-founder Philip brought back a jar full of stories about Prohibition and the legendary spirit of moonshine. In 2014, they founded O'Donnell Moonshine and brought the notorious drink back to life. What started as a spontaneous idea in a living room is now one of Germany's best-known premium spirits brands, with over 60 employees across Germany, the UK, and the Netherlands. August shows how a clear brand identity, a D2C focus, and genuine community work can do more than just survive in a saturated market. They redefined a category.
In 2016, Fabian built a category with BRAINEFFECT before it even had a name in Germany: performance nutrition for the mind. As a former competitive athlete, Fabian Foelsch knows first-hand how critical sleep and recovery are for performance. His brand combines science-backed supplements with a clear positioning around mental performance, building a loyal community of biohackers, athletes, and knowledge workers. Today BRAINEFFECT is one of the best-known supplement brands in the German D2C market.
Fabian co-founded Unibev in 2020 with friends: a creative studio for innovative beverage concepts that has already built brands like BraTee (Capital Bra) and Lombi Cola (Pietro Lombardi). If anyone knows how to turn a drink into a cultural phenomenon, it's him. In early 2023, SUPER POP was born: a next-generation functional soft drink combining fibre, apple cider vinegar, and postbiotics into something people actually want to drink. With fitness icon Pamela Reif on board as investor and strategic partner, 3 million cans were sold in the first nine weeks after launch.
