Xentral Mobile Picking App

The Mobile Picking App helps streamline the picking process by making it faster and more efficient. The Mobile Picking App seamlessly integrates with Xentral's core ERP system. It takes advantage of Xentral's existing picking and warehouse management features, enhancing them by providing a clear, mobile-friendly interface that warehouse teams can use to manage and track their picking tasks directly from their devices.

The Mobile Picking App is compatible with mobile phones and handheld devices, including Zebra, Honeywell, and Sunmi devices. This ensures that you can use the app on your preferred hardware, whether you're using dedicated handheld devices or smartphones.

The first version of the app focuses on Sorted Pick & Pack, where orders are grouped into pick lists before picking starts. Items are picked based on the list, scanned or manually checked for accuracy, and then sorted directly into the correct packing containers. This process minimizes errors and ensures each order is ready for the packing stage with no mix-ups.

The app ensures accuracy while picking and packing. Picked items are verified, and packed orders receive the correct labels and documents—helping prevent errors before shipping.

Yes. Currently, the app always displays the batch with the earliest expiry date according to the system – based on the FIFO principle. Manual selection or deviation is not yet possible. However, a more flexible option is planned: in future, pickers will be able to deviate from the system suggestion depending on the picking profile settings. In the long run, completely free picking without system guidance will also be possible.

If a picking run is canceled mid-process, it cannot simply be resumed. To continue working, create a new picking list with the remaining orders or manually edit the affected delivery notes in the overview. A technical solution for this scenario is already being developed.

Not yet – but coming soon. The integration is well underway. In future, you will be able to store repackaging units with their own barcode in the item master. When such units are scanned, the app will automatically increase the pick quantity – e.g. 5 items instead of 1. Perfect for faster picking of larger quantities.

Currently, two methods are available: Sorted Pick Pack (processes multiple orders at once, each in its own box) and Onescan / Single Item Run (for many small orders with a single item). In development: PickSortPack, where items are picked unsorted into a central container and sorted later – ideal for bulky goods.

Not yet. Each picking process requires a box for clear assignment at packing. As a workaround, a shipping package with a barcode can be used as a “box.” Long-term plan: make the box scan optional.

Yes. You can enter article numbers or storage locations manually or use the smartphone camera as a scanner. External Bluetooth scanners are currently not supported.

Not yet. The app is mainly optimized for volume picking. Once the box scan becomes optional, this use case will also be simplified.

Yes – as long as the items are set up with decimal units in the system. This feature is currently under internal testing.

Yes. In the medium term, the app will also support warehouse and transfer processes within production. For now, the focus remains on order picking.
